Is it just me or does the Apple iPad suck?

I can’t believe the fuss. This product from Apple is disappointing with a capital ‘D’.

It is easier to list what it doesn’t have:

  • No Multi-tasking
  • No Drag and Drop File Management
  • No USB Port (Killer mistake)
  • No SD Slot
  • No Flash (deadly error)
  • No HDMI Out
  • No 1080p Playback
  • No Native Widescreen
  • No Camera (just plain stupid)
  • No Full GPS
  • No Open SDK

All that equals NO SALE!

This video which predates the iPad by several years is….well….apt.

You will have or desperately want one within 18 months, even if you will find it hard to admit to yourself. Enjoy the meal of your words…..

Why would you want

I don’t see the point in it, looks like an over size I-Pod Touch

The I-pod touch was pointless

Maybe its for old people?

It does have full GPS and an open SDK. If you need a device with all the rest of that stuff then get a computer.

Shit a USB port wasn’t too much to ask for, was it? It’s not an iPhone and it’s not MacBook. It’s something in between. Sort of like a transsexual.

Actually, I think it will have a niche. The lack of a USB port is an oversight, but for people with tons of office based computing power who mainly want mobile email and internet it could be perfect.
For me I spend a fortune on books and have been waiting for Kindle and Nook to arrive in NZ. If the iPad has a halfway decent book reader then it will pay for itself in 6 months. When I travel, I always take or buy books and it is a major weight and space hassle. Being able to carry a veritable library in (a Kindle, or) an iPad will make it worth the price for me. Can’t wait to pay $9 to $10 per book! On 30 books I will recoup the total price of the up spec’d machine. Now that can’t be too bad can it?
Of course I could wait for version 2 or 3….

I do not even understand most of what you said. However, I recently got a new computer thingy because the crank handle on the old one wore out.
