Time for an update to MP pecuniary interests

Now that the government has passed the ETS there exists the possibility that there is another way for them to enrich themselves without proper public scrutiny.

Therefore I propose a change.

I believe that the MPs’ Register of Pecuniary Interests to now have a special section declaring MPs’ interest in carbon trading funds/exchanges or related investments.

This is especially important given the suspect science so we can see who is pushing to retain or increase the power under the ETS for their own financial benefit.

Agree and I would like to also know the pecuniary interests of those people employed by Government departments (such as University lecturers or those employed by Land Care who are associated with Carbon Trading companies) who have had influence on the government’s stance on Climate Change and carbon footprints/carbon trading. It is not about “saving the planet” but it seems to be all about making money out of carbon. Not many in NZ realise what the Carbon Market is all about. I know my mum wouldn’t.
