Pooftahs Intolerant

by Whaleoil on November 16, 2009 · 11 comments

So let me get this straight, if you will excuse the pun, we are all meant to be tolerant of homosexual lifestyles, embrace rainbow members of our community, pass legislation allowing the gay lifestyle to become normalised by way of “civil unions”….but….

One guy sings some rude songs about pooftahs and lezzos and all of sudden the tolerance we are supposed to show gay people is tossed out the window along with freedom of expression?

I don’t get it. Hone Harawira can call pakeha while mother-fuckers and nothing happens and a black guy writes songs against pooftahs and all hell breaks loose.

The answer to bigoted speech isn’t banning it is more unbigoted speech against idiots like the “Beenie Man”

All this shows is that poofs and lezzos are just as intolerant as the rest of society. That’s just gay.

Dear Hagues,
Do you accept that BDO is a private event (albeit a large scale one) to which tickets are sold by its promoters according to voluntary contracts? If so, what is the problem if the gay mafia are influential enough to cause the promoters to uninvite this “beenie man”? If he had been denied entry to the country, i’d be a little upset, but he wasn’t. That’s the power of the market – enough people hate homophobia that the promoters caved. Big deal; it’s supply and demand.

I love free speech. But you shouldn’t force private people to faciliatate an odious point of view just for the sake of diversity of views. Beenie man suffered the consequences of having an odious perspective on life – enough people threatened to boycott the event that he wasn’t be invited to attend. Too bad, how sad. He can still talk about killing gays all he likes, just not at BDO. Maybe destiny church should invite him to perform?

Lets try and spell this out for the slow…

The gays want everyone to be tolerant of them, but they wont be toerant of others. Its called hypocrasy.

No one was forcing anyone to listen to Beenie Man, nor was anyone forced to facilitate his view. They hired him for his music, but the gays would not tolerate his view point and so pressed for his exclusion.

Look its a character test at immigration , hell you cant come in if you dont have enough money, also criminals, murderers are also not wanted.
Rude songs ? Its incitement to murder.

And its a higher test for ‘visitors’ than citizens, so dont go comparing to Hone.

I don’t often agree with Mediatart, but that Beenie guy was talking about killing gays and lesbians.

Applying the “jew” test (apologies in advance for involing Godwin’s Law), there is a big difference between singing songs about how Jews love money and have big noses, compared to singing songs about how one might like to gas women and children and push them into ovens.

One can quite easily disapprove of gays for aspects of their lifestyle without suggesting they should be killed.

From what I’ve read, he wasn’t banned from entering NZ and no restrictions have been placed on his “freedom of expression”.

Rather the concert promoter decided that they didn’t want him to perform at their music festival.

A private enterprise makes a commercial decision? Excuse me if I fail to be outraged.

The point is that whilst gays want us to be tolerant of their lifestyle they are not prepared to be tolerant of Beenie Man’s point of view. They preach tolerance but are not prepared to practice it themselves.

From Hansard, 15 October 2009

” Hon Steve Chadwick: Will he provide an answer assuring that there will be no decrease in Government funding for the arts and culture sector as a result of any increase in charitable giving by private individuals to the arts and cultural institutions?

Hon CHRISTOPHER FINLAYSON: I am seeking to grow the arts budget. I have made it clear on a number of occasions that the Government has very real responsibilities to fund the arts and that, in addition, the increase in funding from private and corporate sources will encourage an explosion in the arts.
Education—National Standards

12. Hon TREVOR MALLARD (Labour—Hutt South) to the Minister of Education: Does she stand by her reported statement that—[Interruption] Tinkerbell, can you settle down?

Mr SPEAKER: That is not acceptable. I ask the House to come to order. The member asking the question often interjects when other members are asking questions. I ask him to just ask his question.”

When is someone from Labour, especially one of those from the gay wing going to criticise Trevor Mallard for his homophobia? After all, what’s good for the goose and all that ….

Its called sledging..
Its no comparison to what that other ‘artist’ was saying
Any anyway nobody is saying his records should be banned, buy them if that what does it for you.
But as a ‘visitor’ he like all others in that category have to pass a character test. So jew haters, homo haters, maori haters can stay out.

Hagues, maybe I AM a bit slow (although before I patronisingly say i’m going to spell something out, i’d check my own spelling.), but I wasn’t aware that the “gays” were a collective with a unified voice wanting anything. Moreover, I am perfectly happy to tolerate this Beenie man’s views, I just won’t pay to see it. Nor, it seems, will others.
Moreover again, i’m not sure it IS hypocrisy, because the “gays” don’t ask that you tolerate them singing about killing “straights”, they just don’t want to be beaten up for walking down the street with their partner. If you think that’s the same thing, then that says more about you than the so-called hypocritical “gays”.
