So Len Brown has announced to a packed, well ok there were 100 people there, including  erstwhile Mayor Dick Hubbard and wannabe mayor Bruce Hucker. What is strange is that Bruce Hucker and Hubbard never saw eye to eye on anything.

Len’s big announcement has gone down with a cup of cold sick with other lefties like Matt McCarten. You see Manukau City went to the Royal Commission opposed to Maori seats (2.27Mb pdf) on the council, now all of a sudden Len Brown, whose own council doesn’t have Maori seats, has done a flip flop. Strangley he seems to think that advoccating and campaigning for separatist race based seats is somehow inclusive.

How can Len Brown claim to unite when he proposes to divide the city by race?

In Manukau City’s submission tot he Royal Commission they went out of their way to suggest to the Commission that Manukau’s method of engagement with Maori was superior to other cities and encouraged them to look at that model. All of a sudden Len Brown wants to do a flip flop. He can’t have it both ways. He either supports the creation of race based seats or he supports his council’s previous positions of Agreements that “recognise the Mana Whenua groups as Treaty Partners and the guardianship role they hold in Manukau. Other councils in the region have differing arrangements. The R oyal Commission is encouraged to examine these arrangements and consider whether there is a model such as described above which would apply to the Greater A uckland Council and local councils.”

Cries from the left of a lack of a referendum should be ignored. When Helen Clark set up the Royal Commission it was set up as a fait accompli, the people have had their say in submissions, and now the Super City will happen. We must however be mindful that Len Brown is Labour’s chosen candidate, he has Labour staffers working in his office and he is still a Labour Party member, there is no hioding his left-wing credentials no matter how he tries to spin it.

The people who have issued the death threats to Sue Bradford are the same ones who did the same to me and included the threat of chucking bricks through my windows.

They are total cowards and never fronted to make good on their threats.

However I don’t think that Sue Bradford can claim these people are representative of pro-smackers. They are simply loose units and cowards to boot. The head brick-chucker/coward is Henk van Helmond who also has form in threatening Dave at Big News.

Whilst death threats aren’t fun, anything from these members of the Angry Dad’s union can be safely ignored.

Some goose called John Langdon from the Labour Party dropped this pearler the other day:

Auckland has never had an elected Maori councillor. Pakeha, apparently, just wont vote for a Maori.”

Well that’s very interesting. So what was John Rangihou Awatere doing on the council during the 1960s for a number of terms?

There have been a number of Maori councillors in Auckland City over the years. But what of right now?

What pray tell is Toa Greening and Jami-lee Ross doing on the Manukau City Council at the moment?

And pray tell, what is Denise Roche doing on the Auckland City council now?

And this goose has the temerity to then say that Iran is a country that respects Jews because they have a guaranteed seat on some council?

Never let it be said that I don’t give kudos when kudos is warranted.

Trevor Mallard has posted on Red Alert a little post about his continued support for integration of private schools and why he opposes the PPTA in their drive to shut down integration.

The PPTA want to close the door on schools wanting to integrate.

I think that to legislate to do that would result in a rush while the legislation was processed.  I also think that it is wrong. Private schools are very cheap on the taxpayer, are needed as part of the network in some cities and in some cases are either innovative or fulfil specific cultural needs. Exterminating them or integrated schools might sound great rhetoric but it doesn’t make good policy sense.

Good on Trev for standing up to the teacher unions, he may get some stcik for that though with the Labour caucus made up of a whole lot of failed teachers…..including him. Though with posts like that he really is looking like real leadership potential in the face of Goff’s failings.

Winston Raymond Peters, 64, unemployed of Herne Bay gave an interview on Q+A this morning where he said he wouldn’t be standing for the mayoralty of the Super City.

WINSTON     Well I’ve never said I would, I’ve never been interviewed by any journalist, notwithstanding all the rumours and humbug.

PAUL  Alright, I’m sitting here and I’m asking you.

WINSTON     The answer is N O.  Do you want me to put a sign up?  I’ve never ever said I would, I have no intention of do that, and I don’t know why a journalist should feel licensed to go and print that nonsense.

PAUL  So no you will not be standing for the Mayor of Auckland Super City?

WINSTON     For the second time, and the last time – NO.

Of course we have all seen Winston and his silly signs before and we all know what his NO means.

I think with out fear of Gotcha! new legal advisors stamping all over me I can call Winston Raymond Peters, 64, unemployed of Herne Bay a mendacious, lying, short-arse failure.

Just as John Banks rose to speak before the thousands joining him to say farewell to Kashin at Auckland Zoo today the sun came  came out, meanwhile across town Len Brown turned his back on Manukau and announced his bid to be the Super City Mayor amidst the rain and mist and barely 100 leftist supporters.

Len Brown even quoted George W. Bush when he described himself as a “a uniter, not a divider” which was of course G. W. Bush’s pitch for the White House.

How bloody thick is that?

Banksie must be beside himself with glee. Maybe Len’s brain got short circuited when his ticker clapped out.

As for the Maori seats, all Banksie has to do is say that he will not get in the way of due process if Maori want a referendum on them, but he personally wont support Maori seats, and he wins hands down. You would have thought the left would have learned after Orewa.

On Q+A today Guyon Espiner didn’t give Len Brown a free ride over his claim to support Maori seats pointing out that Manukau City doesn’t have any so why the big fan of them now?

GUYON         Let’s look at one of those things, the Maori seats, do you support having separate Maori seats on the Super City?

LEN     Yes I do support that, and I think the government is missing an opportunity to really ensure that this bringing together is serious, that we are reaching out to all of our communities, and Maori have a special and significant place in Auckland, as they do have in New Zealand, it’s recognised through our commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi, it’s recognised through statute, it’s recognised through our seats in parliament.

GUYON         Well when I read the Royal Commission, volume 1, part 4, reports that in 2008 Manukau City Council rejected the establishment of Maori wards.

LEN     We have had an unfortunate situation in our city over really the 45 years of time.  The reason why we do – what we do in our city is that for our 45 years we have had Maori representation around our table, we have two people of Maori ethnic background in our table at the moment, one Tainui.

GUYON         But no separate Maori wards though.

LEN     But we’ve been able to deliver representation to Maori on that basis along with the Treaty of Waitangi commitment.

GUYON         But without separate Maori wards.

LEN     Guyon what I want to say…

GUYON         Well I’m asking you why you rejected Maori wards.

LEN     Because we had strong Maori representation in our Council at the time.

GUYON         Well don’t you just then prove Rodney Hide’s point that we don’t need to have separate seats?

LEN     No, because I believe that going forward 1.4 millions Aucklanders, I want to see Maori around that table, and I do not believe that we can satisfy our requirements by just having it under the ward system in this new structure.  I believe we could deliver it in Manukau.  I think we will really struggle in the Auckland Council.

So, now we know that Len Brown is a hypocrite as well. Meanwhile Left-wing political commentator Matt McCarten says John Banks is getting damaged by his association with local government minister Rodney Hide.

Rodney has probably consolidated his position in NZ politics for a generation by taking a principled stance on race based seats that is in line with the majority of the populations views.

Screw the liberal elite. There is no way Aucklanders are going to go for the happy, snappy, rappy, dancing, prancing, huggy, kissy, kneeling, praying, huffy, puffy, hypocrite candidate.

Is anyone else bemused by the irony of a boxer who makes his living by smacking the crap out of all comers is suddenly the poster bot for the anti-smacking brigade?

This is actually not funny. It remains legal for him to punch people in the ring but parents can’t smack a child on the bum at all.

Winston Raymond Peters, 64, unemployed of Herne Bay reckons his party is on the comeback trail. This is fantastic news as I would like nothing better than to focus on him for the next election.

Let’s face it Labour aren’t going anywhere so to have Winston announcing he is going to make a comeback is great.

He launched into a tirade about all sorts of things and as per usual it included race-baiting, denigration and ridicule.

He even called some of John Key’s initiatives pitiful stunts. He of course ignores his own pitiful stunts. He also ignores his party’s stolen $158,000 which has never been paid back and the constant and incessant lying to cover up all sorts of shenangins with his funding.

Yes I welcome his comeback if only for the extreme mirth it will provide us all. David and I will put these up all over the country to remind voters just exactly what Winston Raymond Peters, 64, unemployed of Herne Bay is all about.

One of my contributors has suggested a photoshop competition.

Take this photo and photoshop it to show something on The Clown’s screen other than the North Shore City Council website. Incidentally is there anyone else out there surprised that vast amounts of ratepayers money have been spent on a website that will exist for only one year?

Anyway, send them in via email to tipline@gotcha.co.nz and I’ll post a gallery of them.
