Brick thrower targets Clark electorate office – 01 Jan 2008 – NZ Herald: New Zealand National news

At least they can’t be charged with sedition which ironically was scrapped from the law books because it was thought that the sedition laws represented a threat to the freedom of speech and could be abused. The Government then went and passed the Electoral Finance Act which actually are a threat to freedom of speech.

Baby loses fight for life – 01 Jan 2008 – NZ Herald: New Zealand National news

The killing continues, another child has been bashed to death unprotected by a stupid law that has done nothing to stop the killing, despite Sue Bradford asserting in Parliament “Now our kiddies are safe”.

Utter crap.

We need to add Tahini Mahomed’s name to Bradford’s Wall of Shame.

It is now 1 January 2008 and political advocacy for or against a political party and/or candidate [Section 5(1)]is now regulated by the Electoral Finance Act, and treated as an election advertisement unless you qualify for an exemption. The unthinkable has happened and Freedom of Speech is now rationed. Just so everyone knows;

I assert that this website is a blog and published by me on a non-commercial basis, and any views expressed on it by me are my personal political views and under paragraph (g) of Section 5(2) of the Electoral Finance Act, is not an election advertisement.

I further assert that this website is a news media Internet site and that all posts on here are written by me, as the editor, solely for the purpose of informing, enlightening or entertaining readers, and hence also is not an election advertisement under paragraph (d) of Section 5(2) of the Electoral Finance Act.

Thus in the interests of informing and enlightening readers, Don’t Vote for Labour  or NZ First or The Green Party, or even the pompous ass from Ohariu Peter Dunne. Vote their corrupt, venal, lying asses out of the parliament. Make them hurt for trampling our democracy in such a callous fashion. Consign them to ignominy, never to return.

For those who want a voice you can help the Free Speech Coalition by donating whatever you can to the cause, we will make you voice heard, we will shout down this corrupt nanny state.

Vettori, McCullum star in stunning win – New Zealand, world, sport, business & entertainment news on Stuff.co.nz

I watched the boring and useless display of batting from the Bangladeshi “players” then stood there astounded as McCullum just bashed the shit out of them proving that the pitch was indeed a belter.

6 fecking overs to get the runs…..if I was at the game I would be really annoyed at such a poor display.

Shadbolt blitzes Government in last-gasp ad campaign – 31 Dec 2007 – NZ Herald: New Zealand National news

Tim Shadbolt’s protest over the treatment of SIT hit the papers today one day before the draconian Electoral Finance Act takes effect.

I wonder if we can get a sponsor for an Invercargill billboard? I have a few designs in mind.

New Year award for Labour’s big donor – 31 Dec 2007 – NZ Herald: New Zealand National news

Now we know what it was that Gordon Brown and Helen Clark were talking about when Dear Leader foisted herself upon the luckless UK Prime Minister. Gordon clearly told her chapter and verse how to go about implementing a Cash for Honours scheme exactly like UK Labour did.

Not only has Clark shamelessly copied “The Third Way” and pledge cards off UK Labour but now she has brought their venal and cynical Cash for Honours system to New Zealand. Even worse she has set the bar so low at only $500,000. talk about selling yourself short.

This is so totally venal they have given an award to a guy who hasn’t even lived in the country for 41 years and even specifically changed laws so this “rich prick”, to coin a phrase of Michael Cullen, can keep on giving to Labour.

A quick scan through the rest of the honours shows there are plenty of people whose sole claim to fame is that they have helped Labour in some way.

Margaret Sheilds
Marilyn Waring
Margaret Austin
Garry Moore

The only surprising thing is we didn’t see Helen’s own little lickspittle the NIMBY from Queenstown, Sam Neill, getting an award.

Labour it seems is the gift that keeps on giving as they lurch from one crisis to the next

I have been sitting herein Rotovegas thinking about a couple of things.

One is Freeview.

The ads for the suckful service are driving me crazy and they have reminded me of a conversation i had recently in Wellington with a good mate of mine.

She was telling me about her friend who runs an installation business and was encouraged to take up installation of Freeview. He was told how popular it was going to be and how it would run him off his feet. I’m not sure exactly who told him all that bollocks but he was told it nevertheless, complete with government statistics on uptake for the region he works in.

Anyway, he looked at the stats, thought about his customers and the customer base and area he is in and then bought 300 set top boxes all ready for him to be deluged with requests to install this wonderous new government intiative in the homes of his customers……..ooops problem is he hasn’t sold or installed even one. He can’t even give them away. No one wants them.

nada, nothing, zip, zilch

It begs the question then, How many subscribers are there of this still-born child of Steve Maharey’s?

How about the number of subscriers against projections of uptake?

Is Jonathon Coleman awake?

Tim Shadbolt is sailing very, very close to the wind. This is his advert that will hit the papers tomorrow. it may wellll already be illegal even though it will be published one day before the “regulated” period. You see it advocates against Labour and for National and thus gets captured by section 65 one of the little known clauses that actually regulates free speech for all time, not just the campaign period. Graeme Edgler is of the opinion that Tim could well be in trouble, precisely for section 65. This is why I fought against the legislation, and why I will continue to fight against it.

I don’t like tim Shadbolt, I don’t like his poltics but i do like that he has seen this law for what it is. I will also defend the right of Tim Shadbolt to say whatever he damn well likes. Unfortunately for the left they are now morally bankrupt after supporting the bill. Clark and Cullen and Winston and Peter and Jeanette have destroyed the ideals of freedom that leftists usually march in the streets for.

Bill Ralston: No rest for Nats over summerJohn Key will be smiling quietly to himself over the BBQ at his beach house in Omaha this summer. As he turns the chops, he can be content that, while 2007 had a few hiccups, 2008 promises to be an even better year for National …… [NZ Politics]

So Labour has a neutron bomb huh? Dickheads, they should’ve worked out by now that that won’t help them and the public don’t like mudslinging.

John Key is right, heads down bums up working hard at being the government in waiting and continually using the mantra “It’s Time for a change“

Oh and for the Labour gits who think they can get away with a neutron bomb, watch out for those of us in the blogosphere who do not have to show electoral restraint. A guerilla viral war is something YOU can’t win.

Matt McCarten: Votes matter, but it’s coalition partners who will count in 2008Despite the spin from party spokespersons, it is a great truism that you can normally predict an election a year out. Consistent polls over the past year have shown that National holds a healthy lead over Labour. You can be pretty… [NZ Politics]

Matt McCarten reckons that National can’t govern because they won’t have a coalition partner. he is right and wrong at the same time.

The next election will show Labour especially, and National generally that Kiwi’s are fed up with the foibles of MMP, they are sick to the back teeth of tails wagging dogs and they will show it in catastrophic fashion. Catastrophic for the minor parties with the exception of the Maori Party and perhaps ACT if Rodney can pull through.

Winston First is particularly exposed after Winston lost Tauranga and with no prospect of ever winning it back and the likely-hood that his sorry assed excuse of a party will fail to reach 5%. Not only that but Winston First is the only party that daily records its demise in the Death notices as their members pop their clogs. To make matters worse, Winston has alienated a large segment of his core constituency by supporting the Electoral Finance Bill.

The Greens have never had the legitimacy of ever winning an electorate seat and thus will be consigned to the dustbin.

We live in interesting times, John Key could make it more interesting by promising a binding referendum on the future of MMP. The people mistakenly believe that they were promised such a thing, and also mistakenly believe that successive governmens have not pursued such a path because they just aren’t interested i, like the proverbial turkey, in voting for an early Christmas. John Key should play to that mistaken belief and deliver to desperate Kiwi’s captured by single issue parties and single issue MP’s.
